Arrange a wine tour with a wine specialist that has rapport with many of the local wineries to getting you in behind the scenes of wine making. It's a day of enjoying and learning, while taste testing the different wines. You are picked up by van visiting different vineyards locally here on the Northfork.
A watercraft rental facility is just around the corner from our place, where you can Captain a boat for the day. If chartering your own vessel is not your thing, you can hire a skipper and get a tour of the Exceptional Peconic Bay to enjoy the time out about the water. Most of the time the water is quite serene for watercraft, allowing for a fun-filled exploration.
Cycling is a great way to experience the area here. Reserve a set of bikes for yourselves and they will be here ready for your stay. Take a backpack with you, so you will have a place to put all your finds from the local shops. Drop into the many farm stands and pick out some fresh vegetables and fruits. Biking is great exercise for you with beautiful scenery along the way.
To have fun on a beach, you will certainly like South Jamesport Beach. They have Volley Ball nets, children's play area, outdoor showers, bathrooms and also ice cream stand with beverages. An additional fantastic component concerning this beach is, it has a gradual descending base and also no huge waves, which are great for the children. The cool part is, you as a Guest, have a free pass for this fantastic beach, which is just 8 minutes away from us using an automobile or Uber.
We moved here back in 1994 and enjoyed it so much we thought why not allow others to have the same experience, hence starting J & S Reeve Cottages. Fast forward to today, we still enjoy our days here in Aquebogue, a hamlet of Riverhead NY. The tourism has grown immensely here, but our tucked away property remains the same, calm, quiet and peaceful, ready and waiting for you to unwind.
To relax here, there are easy chairs, hammocks, outdoor tables, patio chairs, umbrellas, for all our visitors and your friends, if you choose to invite them, enjoying the backdrop of nature. Reminiscing about the times, all while taking in some wine from a local winery.
To get on the water from our property, it is simply launching one of our kayaks that is included with your stay. Kayaking is a little different than using one of our Canoes. With a Kayak you will sit lower on the water with your lower half of your body enclosed in the kayak and use a double-ended paddle. As with a Canoe you sit higher on a crossbeam across the hull and paddle with a single-ended paddle. Whichever you feel more comfortable with, will give you enjoyment and fun of exploration. For those that have great balance, there are paddle boards to use as well, which is a longer one ended paddle for paddling. You can also walk into the water from our waterfront to go swimming in Reeves Creek. When done with the day on or in the water, you can rinse off using the shower that is outside.
