Aquebogue is a quiet little town that is a district of Riverhead NY. John and I have lived here all our lives and enjoy it here. In 1994 we decided to offer our rentals to others for their vacations and this is how we started J & S Reeve Cottages. Over the years we have great knowledge about the immediate area and onward out onto the eastern end of Long Island. Which our visitors find very helpful when indulging in the area for their time spent here on family vacations.
The water and the seclusion of our property is what brings many from as far away as the other side of the world. We have attracted famed people as well through the years, whether they are singers actors or staff. They all loved the wide range of the water setting here. The property and gardens are meticulously kept. They loved taking boats out for a day on the water or simply lounging around on the luscious green grass by the water.
Canoeing is another way to get out on the water and explore the bay area. If a kayak is what you are more familiar with, we a few of those, including life jackets to help you get into tighter water ways for discovering more or to simply take a rest on an exposed sand bar in the Peconic. Maybe you want to stand above the water by utilizing our paddle boards, that are pretty popular.
The best part for our Guests staying with us, there is no additional charge to use any of them.
To unwind, there are easy chairs, hammocks, outside tables, patio chairs, umbrellas, for all our visitors as well as your guests, if you pick to invite them, delighting in the background of nature. Thinking back when, the moments, all while taking in some white wine from a local vineyard.
When calling ahead and arranging it, you can have bicycles waiting for you when you get here. This is another way to get around the immediate area for breakfast, drinks, lunch and dinner. Local farm stands are easy to get to for some fresh vegetables and fruits. Want to get some exercise or simply ride till no end, with scenic views the whole time you are out there cycling.
A short Drive or Lyft away, South James Port Beach is an excellent choice with very fine-grained white sand with a very slow gradient all the way into the water. Very calm waters from the bay with no big waves making it that more enjoyable. Activities you can do there is Volley Ball, Swim with Life Gard present and a children's playground as well. To cool off they have an ice cream stand and drinks you can buy. There are bathrooms and outdoor showers to help get all the fine sand off.
Many wines made here in our immediate area and are recognized around the country. We have a Trip Guide Expert that has a terrific relationship with numerous of the regional vineyards to obtaining you in behind the scenes to creating wine. She can pick you up right from our property with her bus and will share her many years of experience with you about the wine industry.
